Timeline | Comprehensive Timeline & Progression

The planning process follows a progression of research, community participation, study and brainstorming.  Listed below are the major steps with the end goal of developing a final plan for formal adoption as an element of the Homer Comprehensive Plan:

Gather Information  (Summer-Fall 2009)
Research and Analysis (Summer-Fall 2009)
Community Involvement (Ongoing)
Parking Study (July 2009)
Future Development Scenarios (Spring - Summer 2010)
Framework Plan **CURRENT STAGE** A draft document was released January 2010. Spring into Summer 2010 a newer version of this draft is being actively edited and discussed by the Planning Commission during work sessions, which are all open to the public, with opportunities to both listen and provide comments.
Community Review of Framework Plan  (Mid-Summer 2010 - Public Meeting and Revised Document Release)
Draft Comprehensive Plan (Late Summer 2010 - Public Meeting and Draft Document Release)
Planning Commission Review (Worksessions with Public Input Fall 2010)
Final Plan (Fall or Winter 2010)
The Homer Spit Comprehensive Plan will be the end product of this planning progression, and strongly reflect input from citizens, the Spit business community, the Planning Commission, and city staff.
